Bridges are structures made to cross ravines, rivers, railroads, roads, and even to cross the ocean. Bridges are built for the pedestrian, vehicle, or rail crossings. Bridges are also part of the land transportation infrastructure which is vital in the flow of travel (traffic flow). Bridges are often a critical component of a road segment because they determine the maximum load for vehicles passing through the road.
